Winona Ryder, professionally Winona Ryder, was born on Winona Minnesota. The name of her parents was derived from the town she grew up in. Michel Horowitz was her father as well as Cynthia Palmer, his mother, were both authors as well as editors. Ryder is Jewish. Ryder believes that her father had an ethnically Jewish family.
